  gnome does not start and restarts gdm back to login screen

  Hello, can you please help me? After upgrading to Maverick on Linux
  yuzuki 2.6.35-22-generic #33-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 19 20:32:27 UTC 2010
  x86_64 GNU/Linux from a fully updated Lucid, the Gnome session no
  longer starts. I click on the user name, enter my password, then the
  GDM restarts back to the login screen, while briefly showing TTY1.
  There is no error in Xorg.0.log, although there are some suspicious
  entries in Xorg.1.log.old, attaching. I also tried to obtain crash
  report with apport, however apport states that there is no crash
  report available. I am also attaching gdm logs, just in case. I am now
  running X with "sudo startx".
