Title:
  programs won't run on login

Status in “gnome-session” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gdm

not sure if this is GDM on not, I think this is a good place to start.
when I tell programs to run at login....they don't. i.e drapes is a wallpaper switching program I like and I usually just had to check off the box in it's preferences to run at login but it won't
also what won't run: update manager, dropbox. thinkpad buttons.
all of these are listed in "startup application" under the system -> preferences menu.

an exception to this is AWN. I have the Avant Window navigator set to run at startup and it works fine.
