  Gnome panel (UNR) disappears with metacity compositor enabled

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: metacity

  1) Karmic as of Jul 26, 2009
  2) See attached
  3) Compositing with a panel
  4) Compositing works great, but starting an application makes the panel disappear. I can still interact with it, but it is not visible

  This seems related to #396590 but that bug was specifically for
  eclipse, which I don't have installed.
