Title:
Rhythmbox automatically synchs/breaks iPhone
Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
On a freshly upgraded Ubuntu 10.4 Rhythmbox can now see and play
tracks from my iPhone 3G (OS 3.2)
However, with no user intervention it then tries to synchronise the
music library to the iPhone (or maybe visa-versa).
The iPhone displays "Sync in Progress" and Rhythmbox then sits there
until the user becomes bored and gives up.
At this stage the iPhone music library is rendered useless. I've
reproduced this twice and yesterday was given the iPhone message
"Updating Library... this may take a few minutes". Today I get
"Canceling Sync" but as Rhythmbox is non-responsive I don't think it
will come back.
I believe this should be treated as a critical bug as existing users
who simply plug their iPhone in to charge it will have a broken music
player at the end of the experience. New Ubuntu users won't want to
stick with the Operating System if it eats their favourite device on
day 1.
Thanks
~sm
