This also happens to me in with i386 architecture and in PT_pt language
in ubuntu 11.10. It reports exactly the same error.

  It's not possible to activate the Subtitle Downloader Plugin in
  Oneiric

Bug description:
  When I try to enable the subtitle downloader plugin i get the error
  message "the plugin untertitel-downloader could not be loaded. an
  error occured: failed to load". Inside an terminal I get the following
  messages.
