This started happening for me mid-cycle in Natty, just tested on a fresh
Oneiric install, could this be re-opened?

Status in “xchat-gnome” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xchat-gnome

  xchat-gnome 0.17 crashes on startup when it tries to display the initial setup dialog.
  This bug has already been fixed in the upstream SVN version.
  I'm attaching two patches that fix this bug.
