Title:
changing the volume in the sound preferences mess up volumes in
  alsamixer for multi-channel card

Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
My laptop's sound card needs a little configuration of the channels volumes in alsamixer to provide good sound.
After a fine tune in alsamixer, the sound is great, but if I change the volume in gnome's sound preferences it does not only affect the master volume in alsamixer, it also affects the volumes of PCM, Front, Surround, Center, LFE and Side channels in an erratic manner (the most of the times it puts all the volumes to the max or almost). The master volume moves just fine.
I hope my explanation is good enough to understand the problem...
