Re: [Bug 874804] Re: After upgrading to 11.10 I lost my launcher.
Some how I felt this had something to do with the log in,so I kept playing
with this mode and the launcher poped up, all is well now.

I Started with Ubuntu 11.0 and it worked just fine, then a online
offer to up grade poped up and I said yes it took me to Ubuntu 11.10
and now I have no desk top or launcher icon.
