[Bug 876897] Re: Changing the default application for photos has no effect for several image types (png...)

Thank you for your bug report, that setting is for photos though, not
image, it's worth noting also that shotwell only handle the photo
formats, not gif, xpm etc

Title:
Changing the default application for photos has no effect for several
  image types (png...)

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  System: Oneiric up-to-date 64-Bit
  Unity: 3D
  gnome-control-center: 3.2.0-0ubuntu6

Affected: png, gif, svg, xpm (maybe more)

  What you expected to happen:
When changing the default image viewer in 'System Info' → 'Default Applications' from 'Image Viewer' to 'Shotwell Viewer' a double click on any image should open the image in 'Shotwell Viewer'.

  What happened instead:
When clicking on a png, gif, xpm or svg file Ubuntu will open them in 'Image Viewer' instead of the system default image viewer → 'Shotwell Viewer'.
