The whole num lock warning should be junked. That would solve this. See

Title:
should warns about no numlock when entering password
Status in GNOME Screensaver:
New
Status in “gnome-screensaver” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
I am entering my password and it warns me that I have numlock on. On a

warn when numlock isn't on.
