I recently upgraded to 11.10 and Empathy no longer indicates that I have
a new chat message except for the bubble popup that stays for just a few
seconds.  If I miss that bubble, I don't see any indicator but I can see
if someone sent me a message by opening the contacts list and looking
for blinking icons in that list.  Chats used to open up in new windows
and I used to see some kind of indicator in the system tray in addition
to the bubbles.

Let me know how I can help to get this resolved as it is quite
frustrating.

Some have mentioned old and new indicator, maybe there is a way to
enable the old indicator so I at least have a way to know that a message
has arrived.
