Title:
No fallback for progress display if the desktop environment does not
have indicator support
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
If there is no indicator support in the desktop environment, there is
no fallback to a status icon. Additionally, the progress window is set
to not display in the pager.
In consequence the window disappears behind all other windows when
using GNOME Shell and there is no easy way to see that a progress is
actually going on and there is no notification when the progress is
finished. As the window is displayed neither in the Activities
overview nor in the Alt-Tab switcher, the only way to get to it is to
move all windows to another workspace.
A solution would be to remove the patch that hides the window from the
pager. This should not affect the Unity user interface, as the window
is displayed in the launcher anyway.
