[Bug 843198] Re: Ubuntu 10.04.03 will not let you change default application for mime types.
Thank you for your bug report, that issue should be fixed in newer
versions of Ubuntu so closing the bug, you can use the "target to
series" feature to request a lucid stable update but since the bug seems
small and the number of requests for that fix has been low so far it
seems not likely to qualify

Title:
Ubuntu 10.04.03 will not let you change default application for mime
types.
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
I want to play mp3's with Audacious by default. If you right click on
an mp3, and select "open with other application", then select
Audacious and make sure the check box is clicked that says 'remember
this application for "mp3 files", it does not change anything. It will
play it with Audacious one time, then change it back. That is
regardless of a user, or root changing it. Next time, totem wants to
play my music. No matter what. I am using stock Ubuntu 10.04.03 with
the updates and only added Audacious. I can reproduce it.
