Message #38945
[Bug 878797] Re: Internal error installing a .deb is not verbose enough
** Description changed:
Downloaded a .deb file from www.google.com/chrome. Double clicked it,
and Software Centre opened. An error appears which says "Internal Error.
The file "/path/to/chrome.deb" could not be opened."
+
+ The message is not verbose and doesn't explain what can be done to fix
+ it.
When installing the file using dpkg, a more verbose message about
dependencies appears:
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of google-chrome-stable:
- google-chrome-stable depends on libxss1; however:
- Package libxss1 is not installed.
- google-chrome-stable depends on libcurl3; however:
- Package libcurl3 is not installed.
+ google-chrome-stable depends on libxss1; however:
+ Package libxss1 is not installed.
+ google-chrome-stable depends on libcurl3; however:
+ Package libcurl3 is not installed.
dpkg: error processing google-chrome-stable (--install):
- dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
+ dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
+
