[Bug 783526] Empathy + Unity, difficulty to get contacts list

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable
release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test
with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about
the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again
and we appreciate your help.

Title:
Empathy + Unity, difficulty to get contacts list

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: empathy

I'm not sure if this is an Empathy or a Unity bug, so I'll target it
  to both.

Pre-Unity, I had a shortcut to Empathy in my task bar. Clicking on it
would log into my favorite IRC chat channels, and show the Contacts
list. I would generally clos the Contacts list, since it was an empty
  box anyway.

Once it was closed, the way to get the Contacts List back was to re-
  launch Empathy.

With Unity, clicking on the Empathy icon in the dock doesn't launch
the application (nor is it accessible from the right-click menu). (I
can re-launch it from Super-A Empathy, click).

The global-menu for the Conversation window does not have a way to
  open the Contacts List.
