Message #39166
[Bug 734655] battery power percentage, charging
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable
release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test
with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about
the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again
and we appreciate your help.

Title:
battery power percentage, charging
Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
(this is likely the "GNOME Power Manager" package, however launchpad
says it doesnt exist)
1 hovering mouse over battery icon displays nothing (unlike the
wireless icon).
2 clicking on icon does not show percentage only time till full
3 go to "Power statistics - device information" to make it say "device
information" at the top, choose laptop battery, and the Details tab
(strange that the text doesnt match). then look for "percentage", and
you ask "percentage what"? well thats what i wondered... it should
read "percentage full" (rather than just describing it as a
percentage), "capacity" is better and the one that is called
"capacity" already can be called "usable" or if the percentage is
inverted, "wear".
4 suggest in Help ways of reviving the battery (or at least mention
it) - although this may be removed later by someone who sells
batteries - i have seen this corruption in wikipedia - one pitfall of
open source...
