Title:
closing lid no longer suspends on Dell D430

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Since upgrading to Lucid, closing the lid blackens the LCD of this
Dell D430 laptop, but doesn't suspend or hibernate as set in g-p-m's
menu. Opening the lid again, one never sees the gnome-screensaver
password input dialog appear. even after furiously hitting any random
key or moving the trackpad. Switching to a vcons doesn't produce
visual content either, so the only "cure" is to hit ctrl-alt-del while
in the vcons to reboot the laptop.
