Title:
  [maverick] Panel brightness doesn't change

Status in “gnome-power-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

After updating Toshiba laptop to latest maverick I can now no longer
change the panel brightness. The notify indicator comes up to show the
slider as I adjust the brightness with the Fn+ function keys but the
  brightness doesn't actually change.

  alan@hactar:/proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD$ cat brightness
  levels: 10 15 30 40 55 65 80 100
  current: 100

In addition testing the brightness panel applet it sticks on 100% and
refuses to let me change it. if I click the brightness applet I get
the pop up slider but if I click anywhere on the slider it disappears
and doesn't change. Scrolling mouse wheel up and down does nothing
also. I don't know if these are related.
