Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable
release - Oneiric Ocelot. It would help us greatly if you could test
with it so we can work on getting it fixed. You can find out more about

Title:
  rhythmbox opens then closes right away, no error displayed

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

  was working
  i had used a cd/dvd cleaner disc in the dvdrw and it had trouble reading it too
  then it finally played in movie player
  i took disc out
  now whenever i try to open rhythmbox, it shows the screen for a second, then it's gone, with no error
  tried rebooting several times already, with and without a disc
