Message #39895
[Bug 734446] Re: cannot remove 'files' from dvd creator if user lacks write permission
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Title:
cannot remove 'files' from dvd creator if user lacks write permission
Status in Nautilus:
Invalid
Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: nautilus
when I insert a fresh dvd-R, the dvd-creator window opens and I can
drag and drop files into that pane to burn a dvd. so far so good, I
burn a dvd but now I want to burn a second dvd, the previous is
ejected and the dialog closed, a fresh dvd inserted, the dvd-creator
opens showing the previous selected files. Normally I can select
those files, press Del and start on the next dvd, but if any of the
files from the previous burn are not owned by the current user and the
current user has only read permissions, the dvd creator refuses to
remove the files from the list to be burned. I can only clear the
list by rebooting the computer!
all remove or delete items on the menu are greyed, the Del key has no
effect and attempts to change the permissions gives an authorization
warning!
I cannot keep rebooting ever time I burn a dvd; other people use this
computer and reboots destroy their sessions. the problem needs to be
fixed, but there also needs to be a work-around to clear the dvd
creator's list of candidate files to be burned.
