  Since upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10 I am unable to start any of my games

  Although shown as being "Installed" by Ubuntu Software Centre, I am
  unable to find games or applications using the "Search" facility. They
  have become invisible. Previously they were in an applications folder
  on the 11.04 launcher
