Well, you're right, but that's not really a bug: it's just that the new
dialog isn't completely finished yet. Of course, it would have been good
to avoid regressions like that, but developers upstream are aware of the
problem, and keeping this bug open won't help them to fix it. They won't
bring back the old dialog anyway.

If it doesn't work with Firefox, please file a new bug against that
package, *that* is really a precise bug.

  [network-settings] Please backport gnome2 proxy settings dialog

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric)
  When setting up a proxy in network-settings:

  1. It does not work with firefox
  2. No profiles available as in gnome 2 proxy settings
  3. No checkbox "Use http proxy for all other protocols)
  4. That whole "dialog" is a piece of shit

  Please backport the old dialog or provide a usable alternative.
