thanks for the report, do you get the same if you use terminator
(terminal emulator) or xterm ? that might be a vte issue.

  terminal scrolling glitches

Status in “gnome-terminal” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Sometimes the terminal stops scrolling automatically it looks as if
  the terminal froze, without updating anymore. Only manually scrolling
  (eg, with a mouse or pressing enter) the terminal scrolls back to the
  last line.
