  switching user fails in Oneiric

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When switching user from the user-panel, I get the lightdm login screen all right, but when I enter the password nothing happens. In dmesg it says:
  [  355.465606] lightdm[2546]: segfault at 0 ip   (null) sp b775114c error 4 in libpam.so.0.83.0[110000+c000]
  [  355.466977] init: lightdm main process (902) killed by SEGV signal

  I happens both in unity and unity2D.

  The system has been upgraded from 10.04 to 10.11

  Expected behavior: being logged into unity.
  What happens: apparently nothing
