Title:
Firefox opens windows and tabs from last session even though the
  option is disabled.

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  To reproduce:

  1. Open firefox settings and change "When firefox starts" to "Show my homepage"
  2. Open lots of windows and tabs of firefox.
  3. Reboot the computer.
  4. Open firefox. All the old windows and tabs load up.

This seems to happen because firefox behaves differently on startup if
it thinks it crashed. It will try to reopen all the old tabs once. If
it crashes again, then it will show the option of reopening tabs or
  starting a new session.

This is annoying though, because on a reboot it looks like it is just
  ignoring the setting.

From this reasoning I assume that firefox does not exit cleanly when
you log out of gnome, the true cause of this bug.
