This can be easily  achieved by opening nautilus as follows:

nautilus . && /usr/bin/xvkbd -xsendevent -text '\[F3]'

  does not remember the adjustments of extra pane

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

  If I am using extra pane and do some adjustments i.e. squeeze one pane
  and expand other this setting does not save so when i close nautilus
  and start it again those adjustments are resetted. This happens in
  nautilus 2.29.2
