I'm asking that because, in case we find the exact nature of the problem and must send this report to the Mozilla developers, most of them (as well as most Ubuntu developers) do not speak Italian.

You may have not noticed that your bug report has been publicly posted to the Launchpad Web interface (at<https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/883892>) for anyone (developers, testers...) to see. I have already contacted the Launchpad Support team, asking them to redact those pieces of information from your comment.

Moreover, with the latter one, the Chrome browser works perfectly. I also noticed that the browser hangs when I try to play videos on the Web (e.g. on YouTube or when I try to play videos or slideshows on my site,www.lu8.it). To try to solve the abnormality I also tried not to use IPv6 and to use only IPv4. As a consequence, I noticed a small speed improvement in Firefox, but it still hangs when I try to close it when two tabs are open. Note that, using Chrome, the connection is quite good, even if it seems it's a bit more slow than in Windows. On Ubuntu 11.10 I've installed the following plugins: Adobe Flash Player for Firefox, Sun Java 6 plugin, Sun Java 6 Fonts, Sun Java 6 Bin and Sun Java 6 JRE. In Firefox, the following p

> First of all, in this bug report I will deal only with the issues you are experiencing with Firefox. Since I suspect that they are caused either by high memory consumption or one of your extensions, I kindly ask you to perform these steps.
> 1) Exit Firefox completely.
> 2) After the window has closed, wait some seconds, open a Terminal and type "killall firefox" (without quotes). This will make sure that Firefox is not running any more (not even in background).
> 3) From the Terminal, type "firefox -profilemanager". When the Profile Manager window appears, click on "Create Profile" and follow the instructions. When you are prompted to choose a new name for the profile, type "Test". After the profile creation has finished, select the new "Test" profile from the list, uncheck the "Don't ask at startup" checkbox, then click on "Start Firefox". This will start Firefox in a "clean" environment, without any extensions and customizations.
> 4) Try to open two tabs and/or to watch a video. Note the *exact* sequence of actions you have performed and the URLs you have visited (be sure to write them here *in detail, step by step*).

In addition to that, browse with Firefox to<about:memory> and copy and paste the contents of that page in your reply; with the browser running, type "top -n 1 -b>MemoryUsage.txt" in a terminal and attach the "MemoryUsage.txt" file (in your home directory) to your reply as well.

Title:
Firefox hangs when opening/closing pages
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
