This bug is also effecting me. The work around suggested eg type in something is surely not acceptable. I like many others need to 
be able to choose the whole group in an individual address book. Hope it is fixed soon

  when i choose the address during the edit a new mail the contact
  window is empty and i must choose the contact with the find... example
  with "a" the contact window list only the address that contains "a"
