Re: [Bug 711664] Re: Firefox consumes memory
aha, perhaps it did. I no longer use downloadhelper since returning to
firefox, and have not experienced the problem. Will report back if
this proves incorrect...
cheers

Title:
Firefox consumes memory
Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: firefox
I use firefox in ubuntu 10:10. I have the system monitor applet
running in my toolbar. As I open and close firefox tabs or new
windows, the memory in use displayed creeps up, until after some
period (of days usually, I do not reboot the machine or exit firefox)
the memory usage for firefox (no other task running) consumes most of
the memory (~85% which robs cache headroom), firefox freezes, and I
have to exit it. This causes the memory to return to mostly free, then
restarting firefox with the same web pages exhibits a much lower (15%)
memory usage.
I watch embedded videos, and occassionally use downloadhelper to
download these to watch later.
