Title:
USA layout variant cannot exist without standard USA layout
Status in Gnome Settings Daemon:
Fix Released
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon
I want to have both "Israel" layout and "USA International with AltGr
dead keys"(I need the dead keys), switching between them using a
single alt-shift.
Tried this method:
System->Preferences->Layouts->Add the "USA International AltGr" and remove "USA".
Result: at reboot USA shows up again, as if it's a dependency of "USA
International AltGr". No way of removing USA and keeping "USA
International AltGr".
I switch between "USA International AltGr" and "Israel" quite often
and it's a pain to have another layout stuck between them so I always
have to press alt-shift a second time to really make the switch.
Have tried "Apply System Wide" to no avail.
To illustrate I have made two screenshots:
This what I try to set up:

And this is what it reverts to after every boot:

I am using Ubuntu Maverick 64-bit fully updated as of October 12th,
2010.
