[Bug 886833] Re: gdm-greeter unusable because filled with pixel garbage

Here's what it looks like. The GTK and icon theme is the HumanLogin
remaining from older Ubuntu updates, while the wallpaper was set using
'sudo -u gdm gconftool-2 --set --type string
/desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename /path/to/wallapper.jpg'

Title:
gdm-greeter unusable because filled with pixel garbage

Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
on Lucid, since whichever update, GDM no longer displays a usable
greeter content. Instead, the mouse cursor leaves a trail of its
pointer icon in it and the face browser that should appear isn't
there. This was working fine until a few months ago, when I last
logged into my LTSP server to work locally rather than via a thin
  client.
