[Bug 845977] Re: firefox window does not display controls nor content

@Andrew Golding
Is this behavior similar to what you saw at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+question/171131? Does this problem occur in more than one session type? If it is happening with "Ubuntu" as the session type (selected from the gear menu on the graphical login screen), does it also happen when you select "Ubuntu 2D" instead?

Chris Coulson is right that you need to provide way more information in
order for it to be possible for this bug to be worked on by a developer,
and reporting the bug with ubuntu-bug (or apport-bug, if you prefer) is
the best way to do it. See
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for details (please make
sure to read that carefully before reporting more bugs in Ubuntu).
However, you're right that this is probably not a bug in Firefox.

If this happens in unity (session type "Ubuntu') but not unity-2d
(session type "Ubuntu 2D"), then it should be reported against the
package compiz. (Use "ubuntu-bug compiz" or, better, invoke ubuntu-bug
with the PID of the currently running compiz process, which should make
sense after you've read
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.) If occurs just with
the proprietary NVidia drivers, then you should add a bug task for the
driver package (which is probably nvidia-current); you can use "Also
affects distribution" to add that package (also in Ubuntu). One of the
two tasks (the compiz task or the task for the proprietary NVidia driver
package) might end up being marked Invalid when the bug is investigated,
but that's OK.

Title:
firefox window does not display controls nor content

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I am currently running Ubuntu 11.10 AMD_64 on an Intel Core 2 Duo with
an nVidia NV44 running nVidia binary drivers, with Firefox 7 package
from the distribution. Firefox will start up, make a window and
populate the menu bar, but the firefox window itself is devoid of any
sort of content and decoration. There are no messages when starting
form the console. I have tried apt-get remove --purge and
  reinstallation with no effect.
