Getting the same behavior - installing dropbox simply hangs and cannot be canceled. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 32 bit. I'm also attaching the logs.

  After unsuccessful attempt to install the nautilus-dropbox package I
  was not able to stop the installation process in the Ubuntu Sorftware
  Center. So in order to install other programs, I needed to restart
  system.
