[Bug 878891] Re: when external drives are accessed, they open media programs

Thank you for your bug report do you have a
.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list in your user directory? what
does it contain? it seems like a wrong user config rather than a
nautilus bug

Title:
when external drives are accessed, they open media programs

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
in the previous version of ubuntu, my external drives appeared on my
desktop and when i clicked on them they opened up with no problem.
now, with ubuntu 11.10, my drives no longer appear on my desktop and
when i click on them in the home menu, they open up media such as VLC
player. my trash folder also does this.

also, the icons on my desktop appear jumbled and i have to organize
them each time so that i can clearly see what the icons are.
