Confirmed too. Don't know if it is related, but at the same time this
happened, also gnome-settings-daemon was using 100% cpu

Title:
[oneiric] empathy-chat eats 100% CPU
Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
On my Oneiric system, opening a new chat window spawns an empathy-chat
process consuming 100% CPU. The window soon hangs; it allows me to
type a few characters, reacting slowly before it eventually freezes.
