[Bug 889123] Re: Music skips when computer is under high strain

Under high CPU or memory strain? If it's memory strain, it could be that
disk i/o slows down, as the disk cache is flushed out to make way for
application memory (by GIMP), and Banshee needs to read the audio file
at a fixed rate to play it back.

Title:
Music skips when computer is under high strain

Status in Banshee Music Player:
  Unknown
Status in “banshee” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
When I am listening to music at the same time as working with GIMP
editing large images, my music begins to skip around, and sometimes
repeat the same phrase over and over again until I have to pause my
music. Even then, it takes banshee around 5 seconds to respond. Also,
my mouse and keyboard actions skip around during high CPU and Memory
usage, as well. I never once had this problem when running Ubuntu
11.04, but ever since I installed 11.10, this problem began.
