The patch needs to be updating for GNOME3 and gsettings, do you think
you could do that?

Add an option to not expose the Filesystem directly

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Binary package hint: nautilus
This is a tracking bug for upstream
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122381. I assume Ubuntu
isn't too interested in adding this feature before upstream does.
From upstream bug description:
"It'd be nice to have an option to disable browsing the root filesystem in the tree, so that only $HOME can be browsed. Browsing outside $HOME is useless for me and probably confusing for non-experienced users who will get all sorts of write errors when trying to write to /usr/lib or will be confused when browsing /dev."
I've attached an initial patch to the upstream bug and also will
attach it here for completeness.
