Title:
Regression: NetworkManager breaks PPTP OTP authentication due to
missing checkbox.
Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Release: 11.10
Package: network-manager-gnome 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu6 amd64
Detail: Oneiric has introduced a new bug in Connection Editor by
removing the "remember password" checkbox, thus permanently enabling
the "remember password" function. This is especially problematic for
configuring VPN connections that use a One Time Passcode since it is
exactly the wrong behavior in that case and causes all subsequent
connection attempts after the first connection to immediately FAIL.
It is also annoying for other connection types if the user wants to
require password entry before connection (for any of several
legitimate reasons).
Expected behavior: "Remember Password" checkbox present and can be
checked or unchecked per-connection so that it can be unchecked to
allow for connections using a One Time Passcode, which is very common
for corporate VPNs.
Observed Behavor: No checkbox present, cannot disable "save password"
functionality from within Connection Editor in any way.
