Title:
  usb device is recognized as "USBModem MMC Storage" but no connection
  starts

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: udev

  I have two usb mobile broadband devices
  Both of them are recognized as usb modem (I checked dmesg output)
  but the NetworkManager Applet 0.8 does not give me the options to start the connection

  I filed this bug as suggested in
