Unable to select SSID in Network settings

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
In System settings -> Network -> Wireless

SSIDs appear in Network Name Pulldown. If I select any of them they
instantly disappear from the Network Name field.

If I select Other... and then the network Network Name, Security and

ifconfig shows wlan0 but no inet address
No network status icon appears on Unity status bar

Lenovo W520, Ubuntu 11.10 (upgrade from 11.04) - wireless has worked
