[Bug 898269] Re: No audio or visual notifications for private pings in IRC

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Title:
No audio or visual notifications for private pings in IRC

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
None of the pings give any audio notifications. I can understand if
some ping is there channels only opening the chat window. but no
visual pop are coming. The worst part is there is no way of me knowing
if there is any private ping to me. I will come to know if there is
any only if i accidentally open a private chat to the same person from
my side at the same time. this should be fixed.
