same problem here. Would love to be able to copy over playlists directly onto iphone like in 11.04 (you edit iphone's properties in rhythmbox and you can choose which playlists you would like to sync)
running a jailbroken  iPhone 3G 3.1.3

  Cannot drag songs directly from library to iPhone playlist

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: rhythmbox

  When syncing an iPhone in rhythmbox, it is not possible to drag a song
  (i.e., copy) directly from the computer's music library to a playlist
  on the iPhone. Instead the user must first drag the song to the "root"
  of the iPhone device itself and then drag it from the "root" of the
  iPhone to the playlist. Attempting to drag directly from the computer
  to the playlist does nothing. This is very counter-intuitive.
  Rhythmbox should support dragging directly to a playlist.

  Using Rhythmbox in 10.04 amd64 and an iPhone 3G.
