Thank you for your bug report, could you follow
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace to get a gdb stacktrace? you need to
type "continue" in the gdb prompt then ctrl-C and "backtrace"

Title:
  Images(any type,let it be jpeg,png,...) do not open in Eye of Gnome

Status in “eog” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Whenever I try to open Image in eog(Ubuntu 11.10 up to date till 3 Dec
  2011) nothing is displayed. I think the package is corrupted . I am
  not able to re-install it because it has dependancy with the Ubuntu
  desktop meta-package.

  Tried checking debug message and it shows nothing (just hangs)
