Title:
gnome-settings-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in
g_main_context_dispatch()
Status in “gnome-settings-daemon” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
THIS IS NOT A DUPLICATE OF THE OTHER ISSUES WITH SIMILAR TITLES.
READ MY REPORT BEFORE YOU MARK IT AS A DUPLICATE.
Just after login, apport poped-up to say that gnome-settings-daemon
crashed, but it appears to be running just fine.
My theme is presently working; all the icons and buttons look right;
all the colors are correct.
It is possible that apport is reporting a crash that happened at the
previous shutdown.
It may be that apport misinterpreted the termination of gnome-
settings-daemon as a crash.
I was able to observe the theme breaking and returning to gnome
defaults for just a moment at the previous shutdown.
I am not able to reproduce this reliably, but have observed the same
phenomenon before.
Steps to (occasionally) reproduce:
1. Turn PC on (assuming apport is enabled)
2. Log in to Ubuntu (presumably using a gnome-session)
3. Shut down / Reboot
4. See the desktop theme disappear slightly before plymouth and final ACPI event (occasionally)
5. Turn PC on / Wait for reboot
6. Log in to Ubuntu again
7. Receive notice from apport.
