Message #55118
[Bug 900908] Re: Default-application-chooser doesent do anything
your issues seems to be bug #876897 then, you can right click on a mp3,
select properties and go to the open with tab to change the default for
that particular mimetype as a workaround
could you confirm that's the case?

Title:
Default-application-chooser doesent do anything
Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I tried to edit what applications to be default in my Unbuntu setup, but apperantly it does not apply my new settings through out the system. Eg. I used to have banshee as my default music player, but now I want to use the Movie player to play music. I change the settings in my system settings but still banshee opens every time I try to open a music file.
Same applies for movies, which used to be played in Movie player, but should now open in VLC. They still opens in Movie Player though
