I have reviewed the OpenOffice original file and it also has lost its
bold and underscore formatting.

I am invalidating this bug because I cannot explain what happened.

  OpenOffice bold underscore format displays as regular text

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  OpenOffice 3.2.0 Build 9483 on Ubuntu 10.04 fully patched creates
  formatted text as bold and underscore.

  Opening the above file with LibreOffice 3.4.4 Build 402 on Xubuntu
  11.10 fully patched produces plain text.  The bold underscore
  formatting is lost.
