[Bug 903004] Re: NotifyOSD does not report WiFi Antennas being turned on/off
Notify-osd just displays notifications. Network-manager-applet is what
would need to handle displaying of the notifications you would like.
** Project changed: notify-osd => network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)

Title:
NotifyOSD does not report WiFi Antennas being turned on/off
Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
On a Thinkpad X220, tapping the Fn+F5 keys will (depending on current
state) turn on or off the WiFi antennas. The X220's "hardware" WiFi
indicator shows a green light when on and cancels the light when it is
off. But shouldn't a NotifyOSD also be generated so this status change
is reported from the Ubuntu desktop as well? NotifyOSD would report
something to the effect of "WiFi Antennas ON" or "Mobile Broadband
Antennas OFF."
It would be great to be able to selectively turn on/off WiFi and
Mobile Broadband. This way battery life could be saved if only using
Mobile Broadband because the user could turn off the WiFi antennas but
leave on the Mobile Broadband Antennas.
