I've tried to reinstall Zeitgeist and all the related packages. Now the
bug seems to be gone.

Bug description:
  Since upgraded Gedit to 3.2.3 when I click on Open icon in the toolbar
  gedit hans for 3-4 seconds before showing the Open file dialog.
