[Bug 279339] Re: Xubuntu pcmcia wireless card not working

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the
live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Precise
Pangolin. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can
work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out
more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ .
Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

We really need to know if this has been fixed in any release later than
Ubuntu 8.10. The currently supported releases are (X)Ubuntu 10.04,
10.10, 11.10, and the development release, Precise Pangolin

Title:
Xubuntu pcmcia wireless card not working

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
This is a Linksys wireless-G 2.4GHz Notebook Adapter. It has worked
well for my friend using Xubuntu Gutsy and Hardy. Upgrading to
Intrepid, the card no longer connects to the network. I can make
multiple sudo dhclient requests and the second or third attempt will
create a temporary connection. I may then browse to one web site or
initiate one ssh session, then the connection stops working...the pid
continues to run. I kill it; make another dhclient request, and get
  another one-time use...and so on.

The machine is an older HP pavillion ze1110 laptop. Booting with
  options acpi=off seems best.

The following is a section from dmesg. Please let me know if i can provide more information.
I have tried: sudo modprobe pcmcia && sudo modprobe pcmcia_core. Also sudo modprobe -v --first-time pcnet_cs.
