Title:
Toshiba NB100 Netbook fails to setup Atheros AR242x / AR542x Wireless
  Network Adapter

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
The NB100 came pre-installed with ubuntu and is an ubuntu certified
netbook, but it does not work properly with ubuntu 11.10 i386. To
load the live cd "acpi=off" needs to be added to the boot options and
grub default command once setup for it to load.

The wifi card is recognised by lspci (see below) but the network-
manager (network selector icon) does not display any wireless
  networks.

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x /
  AR542x Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

I've plugged in a wifi dongle and updated to the latest kernel
(3.0.0-14) but it is still not working. Nothing came up in jockey
  when searching for additional drivers.

The battery icon is also missing although this has already been
  reported somewhere on the internet.
